How does the 100 units free domestic electricity scheme work?

Under Domestic Tariff 1A, all domestic electricity consumers in Tamil Nadu receive up to 100 units of free power bi-monthly, subsidized entirely by the State Government.

How the subsidy works:

  • The 100 free units are automatically deducted from your bi-monthly electricity bill during meter reading.
  • Linking your Aadhaar card with your service connection number is mandatory to continue receiving this subsidy.

How to link Aadhaar:

  • Visit the official Aadhaar linking portal (nsc.tnebltd.gov.in/adharauth).
  • Enter your consumer service number, verify via OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Enter the property owner/tenant Aadhaar number to complete authentication.
  • You can also link your Aadhaar card in person at your local TANGEDCO collection counter.
